Ni Guangnan, an academician of the CAE Member, said that today RISC-V is the most popular architecture in China's CPU field and a new engine to promote the development of new generation information technology. In addition, Chinese manufacturers are fully exploring the RISC-V solution applied in the field of powerful computing power.
**RISC-V architecture processor shipments continue to grow**
Instruction set architecture is the key technology to communicate between software and hardware. With the advent of the intelligent era of the Internet of Things, the open, simple and modular RISC-V architecture has risen, and has moved from the terminal to the cloud, forming a tripartite confrontation with the traditional x86 and ARM architectures.
"The vigorous development of RISC-V requires global innovation and coordination. From the chip ecosystem to the basic software ecosystem, to the application and terminal ecosystem, Pingtouge is connecting all major ecosystems, so that developers and partners around the world can better use and develop RISC-V technology." Meng Jianyi, vice president of Pingtouge, said at the first Dark Iron RISC-V Ecological Conference held by Alibaba Pingtouge on March 2.
At present, in the world, North America is still the innovation highland of RISC-V, covering processor IP to software and data centers. European original enterprises are also exploring the transfer of the original architecture to RISC-V architecture. Asia's Andes, StarFive, Xiangshan, Sinai, and other companies are trying to promote the development of processors. According to statistics, in 2022, 10 billion processors with RISC-V architecture have been shipped, and data predicts that it will exceed 80 billion by 2025.
In the research and development of RISC-V processors and chips, Pingtou has launched three series of eight RISC-V processors, which are the most widely used processors in RISC-V mass production chips. At this conference, Jianan Technology launched the world's first commercial mass production chip K230 supporting RISC-V Vector 1.0 standard; We can launch the 64-core RISC-V server chip, and the cooperation with Pingtouge will move from the mass production of embedded chips to the comprehensive exploration of cloud chips. Xie Xiaoqing, vice president of Intel Software and Advanced Technology Business Unit, said in his speech that Intel IFS plans to provide semiconductor OEM services to support various chips including RISC-V, and will further promote software open source and promote ecological innovation.
David Patterson, the father of RISC-V and the winner of the Turing Prize, witnessed the vigorous development of RISC-V ecology. He said at the meeting: "RISC-V is a global phenomenon, with developers from more than 60 countries studying it. In Asia, many well-known enterprises, academic institutions and industry associations are actively involved. From embedded systems to various types of computers, and finally to mainframe computers, it is expected that RISC-V will be everywhere in 3-5 years!"
**Ni explores the application of high computing power**

Ni Guangnan introduced that RISC-V can not only be promoted in industrial control, Internet of Things, smart home and other fields with low computing power requirements, but also is now developing into desktop applications, edge computing and other fields with higher computing power requirements; The field of ICV is considered to be a huge market for chips in the future.
It is estimated that an intelligent connected vehicle may use hundreds of CPUs. At present, China's major industrial alliances in this field are actively promoting solutions based on RISC-V.
With the development of servers and supercomputing, AI training and inference, including ChatGPT and other applications, the demand for powerful computing power is becoming more and more urgent. In view of the advantages of RISC-V, which is modular, scalable, and easy to customize, as well as the advantages of being free from monopoly constraints and easy to ensure supply chain security, relevant Chinese manufacturers are fully promoting the RISC-V solution that provides powerful computing power.
At the same time, the ecosystem of RISC-V chips and the ecosystem of basic software such as the operating system are accelerating their integration. Pingtouge has basically completed the full adaptation of the international and domestic mainstream operating systems with RISC-V, including Android, Debian, Fedora, Gentoo, Ubuntu, Dragon monitor, Unison, openKylin, Skyworth Kukai, RTT and other operating systems. This means that RISC-V is fully capable of undertaking software applications through different operating systems such as cloud, desktop and terminal, and the upper application developer can smoothly achieve architecture compatibility with 0 code.

The vigorous development of RISC-V ecology cannot be separated from calling for the unification of instruction set standards. Chinese enterprises have played a key role in promoting the construction of RISC-V international standards.
Calista Redmond, CEO of RISC-V International Foundation, said at the meeting that 12 of the 22 senior members of the foundation were from China. In the construction of international standards, Pingtouge led 11 major technical groups and promoted the formulation of standards in 29 technical directions. Brother Pingtou has obtained the world's first architecture compatibility test certificate.

At the RISC-V Ecological Conference of Xuantie, Alibaba Pingtou announced its ecological plan. For 150000 developers in the chip open community, Pingtouge launched the online learning platform "RISC-V Academy Program" for the first time to encourage participation in the global RVFA certification.
